James Nugent

Senior Director, Head of Commercial Agency

James is a Senior Director of Lisney Ltd and also heads the Commercial transactional aspects of Lisney’s business.

James is known as an expert in office property and on a day-to-day basis, deals with investment sales and investment acquisitions, lease disposals, lease acquisitions, rent review work and other landlord and tenant issues.  He also advises clients on on-site assembly, structuring of joint venture development agreements and building design and specification.

James joined Lisney in 1995 and in 2003 was appointed to the board of directors before becoming Managing Director in January 2012.  In 2016, he took up the role of Chairman.  He is well known in the industry, having written numerous articles for newspapers and has been a speaker at annual conferences including the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland, the Irish Property and Facilities Managers Institute and the Irish Planning Institute.

Naturally, James has represented numerous high-profile clients including Blackstone, State Street Global Advisors, O’Flynn Construction, Davy Hickey Properties, The RDS, Friends First, Irish Life, IPUT and London & Regional Properties. He has also represented prominent national and international and occupational clients such as Mediolanum, Mercer, AIG, Allianz Worldwide Care, The Central Bank of Ireland, Brown Brothers Harriman, The Broadcasting Authority and the HSE.

James holds a BSc in Estate Management from Oxford Brookes University and a diploma in Auctioneering, Estate Agency and Valuations from Dublin Institute of Technology. He also has a diploma in Corporate Governance from UCD Michael Smurfit Business School and a diploma in Arbitration Law and Procedure from UCD.  He is on the list of accredited arbitrators and independent experts as maintained by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and has also acted as chairperson on various professional competency assessment panels for the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland as well as representing the society when accrediting third-level institutions. James is a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a previous board member of Dublin City Business Improvements District.
